The kindest, nicest human being ever born! That is how I remember Nano and I challenge anyone to disagree! Too nice, indeed, a little more "nasty approach" on the soccer field and he would have a real force!
Born in 1933 in Canicattini, Nano would become one of the outstanding soccer players ever despite his career being interrupted first by immigrating to Venezuela from 1952 to 1955 and then again by having to serve in the military from 1958-59! A tailor by trade Nano went on to finish his playing career in Siracusa for the Odeon team. Nano played on some of the strongest soccer teams Canicattini has ever fielded with such well know contemporaries like Migliorati, Giovanni Lombardo, Frankie Cultrera. etc.
In 1963 he married Enza Bordonaro after a persistent courtship and they would have three children, one girl ( born in Canicattini) and two boys born in the USA.At the time of his death he had six grandchildren which have since grown to 8 and two more "under construction"
Nano emigrated to the USA in 1964 and was joined by Enza and their baby girl in 1965. After a brief stint as a tailor Nano became a designer for American Bazaar ( over 25 years) and then spent 12 years working in New York for such well known labels like Anne Klein and Jones!
Enza also had a career as a seamstress first and as a Sales Agent later at such fine department stores like GFox, Sage Allen and Lord&Taylor.
Nano passed away in 2002. He will be missed forever!

He also lived in Caracas, Venezuela for three years and in Turin, Italy for one year. Upon moving to Connecticut, he worked as a pattern maker for American Bazaar in New Britain for over 24 years. For the past 11 years he held various positions in New York City as a pattern maker and most recently employed by GIII Jones Coats, producer of ladies coats for Jones New York. He is survived by his three children, daughter, Josephine Agnello-Veley and her husband Brian Veley of Kensington; son, Salvatore Agnello and his wife Cindy of East Hampton; son, Gabriele Agnello of Rocky Hill and his fiancee Jennifer Borreggine of Cheshire. The greatest joy of his life was the love he received from his six grandchildren, Patrick and Erica Veley of Kensington, Jessica, Michael, Rebekka and little Sebastiano, all of East Hampton. He eagerly looked forward to Sunday dinners with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his very dear friends at the Canicattinese Society and the Italian American Stars, Hartford. He was predeceased by his sister, Sebastiana Agnello. He is also survived by his brother, Giovanni Agnello and his wife Maria (Ricupero) Agnello of Sicily, Italy; and many dear family members from Italy, Canada, Venezuela and Australia. Nonno, Thank You for the priceless times we spent laughing and enjoying each other's company. Dad, Thank You for teaching us about the importance of a strong work ethic, helping us to accomplish our educational goals, and showing us how to be genuine people. You will be in our hearts forever Sebastiano
