In addition to playing soccer, I was one of the least important partecipants in several stage productions organized under the sponsorship of the Chiesa Madre.
Leading those efforts were some extremely talented and creative young men: Pippo Zocco; Pippo Lombardo; Pippo Contarini; Michele Mozzicato and Caraco' to recall a few.
Several pictures from our work are exibited below. The earliest pic must date to the 1950's but most of the others were produced between 1963 and 1967.
I am the shy one, holding my face.
The first production I recall participating in. I am laying on the ground on the right. I Cinque Vivi, was a drama about miners caught in a cave after an explosion. First on right is Pippo Zozzo while Pippo Lombardo is at center front.
I cinque vivi: Foto finale col parroco Pollicita
Il tesoro della Filiciuzza:P. Pirrotta, A. Floridia, M. Mozzicato, C. Aliano
The next two pictures come from a play which tells of the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus but set in the American West . Standing:Gibilisco, Leone, Bombaci, ??, Mozzicato and Lombardo. Middle: me and Vasquez. Kneeling :Aliano, Caraco, Ruscica and Zocco.
The next two pics are from a play in which I had to dresss as a blonde and Lombardo as the mother ( no girls on stage with us in those days!!!). Pictured me as a blonde; Contarini; Leone at the table; Lombardo ( mother) and Vasquez.
From left: Don Giovannino ( music teacher) , me, Contarini, ??, Vasquez, Lombardo, Aliano. Paolino ( we called him Brother because he had lived in America) and Zocco. Kneeling not sure who is the girl, Leone, Gibilisco and Nano il Sacristano and goalie to Canicattini.
This picture must have been taken on a Easter Monday picnic around 1965. I am with Pippo Contarini ( a great voice and actor died much too young as did Pippo Zocco).
Carnival time was also talent show time, and of the town version of Have you Got Talent or American Idol!
I believe I entered twice as a ( not so good at all) singer! The things you do in youth to make a fool of yourself .
