" To Remember and Understand"

Antonio Andretta was one of the earliest Italian to arrive in Hartford and make this city his home. A successful banker, ( he founded a bank together with another well known Italian Nicola Pallotti) until his untimely death in 1929 Antonio was one of the richest Italians and one of the most socially committed to improving the lot of the Italian immigrants!
His death in Jine 1929, apparently as a result of a burst appendix, could not have come at a worse time. The market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression colluded to destroy much that Mr. Andretta had built. Based on what I have read of him Mr. Andretta may very well have been able to salvage his bank had he been alive during these difficult times.
