I received the following e-mail April 24, 2014 and I could not explain it any better than just reproducing it!
Hi,
I was over the moon when I found your Hartford/Connecticut Italian website.
You are related to me through marriage. I am the granddaughter of Salvatore Gallo (Son of Giuseppe Gallo and Anna Buccheri Gallo). I have been researching pictures from my grandparents album trying to find out about my Pop Gallo's sisters who remained in Canicattini. I have letters and pictures from my grand aunt Nicolina. They match your pictures on line of your cousin's mother-in-law. I have pictures of Angelina Cugno at her high school graduation in 1945. She looks so much my mother's sister Auntie Anna is is hard to imagine. My mom Eleanor Gallo Ursone passed seven months ago and never knew that she had first cousins in Hartford.
My family and I lived in Avon for 9 years and only new of the Ursone family members in the area. I had my Ancestry DNA test done and am finding DNA matches all over the Connecticut and Mass. area.
DiMauro, Cocolla, Sipola, Ciarcia, Tramonte, Montano, Melluzzo, Mangiafico, Cavalieri, Montenieri, Randazzo, Amenta, Leone, Massaro, Santa Lucia, Zocco, just for starters.
I have passed the site info on to my DNA cousins.
I was born and brought up in Stamford. I went to school in New Haven and have lived in Trumbull also. Other than that we moved around in Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pa and now lived as retirees in Palm Coast, Florida just south of St. Augustine on the east coast.
I have lots of records from Canicattini that i taught myself to read and would be more that happy to share. I would really love to know about my family in Canicattini. Pop didn't like to talk about them much. I think that it made him sad..He died young at 54 of a heart attack in 1954. He was the best. I still miss him 60 years later. Nanna remarried and moved to Salem,MA and that is probably why the family didn't find her when they moved to the USA. She was now Teresina Buccheri Gallo Randazzo.
Her parents were Sebastiano Buccheri (brother of Anna buccheri Gallo) and Salvatrice DiMauro Buccheri. Her second husband was Santo Randazzo of Canicattini widower of Nanna's first cousin Antonina Amenta ( daughter of Concetta DiMauro Amenta) Antonina arranged the marriage before her death.
I would love to be in touch with Salvatore Cugno and Nicolina Cugno Borgia and hope that will happen. Their father was my first cousin once removed.
I know that I am almost too excited to make sense in an email...but I hope to hear from you soon.
Happy Easter!
Warmest regards,
Barbara Ursone DePietro aka Nonna D
