Frank was born in Hartford  in 1920 from parents who emigrated to the USA from Pachino in 1913! He was one of five children with two brothers and two sisters!

Frank graduated from Trinity College in 1942, became a marine and was stationed in Honolulu which he made his home.

Here he began a long and eventful political career including serving as Mayor of Honolulu 22 years while losing several races for  Governor and U.S. Senator.

Frank died in 2010!

Frank è nato a Hartford nel 1920 da genitori emigrati negli Stati Uniti da Pachino nel 1913! Era uno di cinque figli, con due fratelli e due sorelle!

Frank è laureato al Trinity College nel 1942, è diventato un marine ed era di stanza a Honolulu che ha fatto la sua casa.

Qui inizia una lunga carriera politica  tra cui quella di sindaco di Honolulu 22 anni ma anche  la sconfitta di diverse gare per il governatore e senatore degli Stati Uniti.

Frank F. Fasi, 89, Mayor Of Honolulu for 22 Years

Frank F. Fasi, the outspoken, streetwise six-term mayor of Honolulu whose muscular remake of the

city's governance and infrastructure included personally mounting a bulldozer to turn a City Council parking lot into a park, died on Feb. 3 at his home in Honolulu. He was 89. He died several weeks after falling and breaking his hip, his son David said. Known as "Fearless Frank," Mr. Fasi drove a bulldozer one night in 1980 to give council members a morning surprise. The lot, with cherished parking spots right next to City Hall, became a green space that is now named for him. 

Mr. Fasi's brash side also showed in 1971 when he ended a bus strike by buying a private bus company and flying to Dallas to buy more buses to create a new transit system. Wearing a white cowboy hat, he drove the first bus off the ship. Mr. Fasi was mayor for a total of 22 years from

1968 to 1994, starting as a Democrat and ending as a Republican. As Honolulu, the capital of the new state, was sprouting skyscrapers, he put his signature on a highly praised bus system, a decentralized government, community gardens, farmers' markets and much more.
