THE ANGLICAN CHURCH ARCHIVE IN MERIDEN CT DO HAVE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE MEN'S CLUB OF SAINT PAUL CHURCH SHOWING THAT IN 1930 THEY RECEIVED THE STATUE AND 193O  WAS THE FIRST YEAR THE FEAST ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE.

I ALSO FOUND MINUTES OF A JANUARY 1955 MEETING INDICATING THE EXISTENCE OF THE STATUE. IN 1955 THE CHURCH MOVED TO SOUTH MARSHALL ST AND IN 1964 THE CHURCH CLOSED AND THE MEMBERS RELOCATED TO THE CATHEDRAL ON MAIN STREET. BUT NO STATUE YET: THE SEARCH CONTINUES!!

While in Canicattini in June 2013 I was asked by Tanino Golino to look into this matter!

He was aware of a St. Michael statue which was used for celebrations by the St. Paul Church on Grove Street in Hartford. The church was demolished long ago and he wanted to me to find out where is that statue!

According to the Hartford Courant the church moved from Grove street to South Marshall street also in Hartford in the mid 1950's. St. Paul was actually an episcopalan church but was used by catholics as well. South Marshall was closed in January 1964 and members transferred to Christ Church Cathedral.

I have been in contact with the archivist for the Connecticut Episcopal church and she has confirmed the above as well as supplied us copies of the Rev. Vasquez pictures and the flyer announcing the benediction of the newly arrived statue ( waiting to find out actual date but should be early 1930's).

Bottom line: we have not found the statue yet but we just began to look into it and the next few weeks should be very interesting!

AGGIORNAMENTO SULLE RICERCHE DELLA STATUA DI SAN MICHELE

TROVATI I VERBALI DEL 1930

MASCHILE DELLA CHIESA DI SAN PAOLO ON GROVE STREET, HARTFORD, CHE ALLEGO SOTTO. SEMBRA CHE L'IDEA E' NATA NEL 1930 E NEL SETTEMBRE 1930 IL PRIMO ANNO DELLA FESTA CON LA STATUA.

INOLTRE HO TROVATO UN RIFERIMENTO NEL VERBALE DEL GENNAIO 1955 DELLA STESSA CHIESA CHE LA STATUA ERA IN ESISTENZA. NEL 1955 LA CHIESA HA LASCIATO PER UNA NUOVA SEDE E PURTROPPO NEL 1964 ANCHE QUELLA CHIESA E' CHIUSA. LE RICERCHE PER LA STATUA CONTINUANO!

Mentre visitavo  Canicattini nel Giugno 2013 mi è stato chiesto da Tanino Golino il seguente: Ero io  consapevole di una statua di San Michele che è stata utilizzata per le celebrazioni per la chiesa di San Paolo a Grove Street a Hartford. La chiesa fu demolita tempo fa e vorrebbe sapere che fine ha fatto la statua.

Secondo l'Hartford Courant la chiesa si trasferì da Grove Street a South Marshall Street sempre a Hartford a metà degli anni 1950. St. Paul era in realtà una chiesa episcopale, ma è stato usato dai cattolici . South Marshall e' stata chiusa nel Gennaio del 1964 e e la chiesa fusa in Christ Church Cathedral.

Sono stato in contatto con l'archivista per la Chiesa episcopale di Connecticut e lei ha confermato quanto sopra, così come fornito noi copie del Rev. Vasquez  e l'annuncio della benedizione della statua appena arrivata ​​(in attesa di scoprire data effettiva ma dovrebbe essere primi anni del 1930).

Purtroppo tutte le ricerche non hanno dato frutto ma continua ad interessarmi e fare ricerche.
